  • New Coats from Ookpik, to keep you warm and toasty this winter!

0 comments / Posted on by Dom Girard

I remember receiving in-store the first Ookpik jackets in 2011 and how we all fell in love with the brand both for its quality and great styles. Since its humble debut, the brand has had considerable success, which doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon... much to our delight!

With each new season, its a pleasure to discover new fabrics and cuts. We've picked out for you our 3 favorites : a new arrival, a model revisited and a timeless classic!

Our absolute favorite from the new fall-winter collection is the COLETTE, a light-down jacket with an oversized cut which is very ''in'' this year! We recommend this jacket for temperatures up to -10 degrees . However, as its not super-fitted, it is possible to put a thicker sweater underneath and wear it in colder weather. The length is great to keep your thighs warm, and its 2-way zipper offers a greater range of motion and comfort when you sit. Both the hood AND fur are removable which is wonderful for giving several styling options with the one jacket. We love it!

The SABINE, back for another year, is a model well-known (and loved) by us.  A winter jacket insulated with 90% down and 10% feathers, with a down power of 600. With its large hood, the fur can also be folded back inside for maximum protection for the chilly winter days. The hood and fur can also be removed providing 3 different styles. This year, the SABINE comes in a longer (knee-length) and short (above thighs) version.

And our final pick, a model we're not getting tired of anytime soon, the SKY! A very convenient,  mid-season jacket. It has a removable lining, perfect for wearing over a range of temperatures. It's 2-way zipper allows you to sit comfortably. Insulated with polyester, it's 100% vegan! A jacket that will take you from Spring to Fall with comfort and style!

  • You'll LOVE the new fall collection from SOIA & KYO!

Whether you like it or not, summer is coming to an end. It's time to say goodbye to the heat, put away your sandals and bikini... to make room for warm jackets, boots and coats.

One of our brands, that I'm always super excited to arrive is SOIA & KYO... and I'm never disappointed! True to form, this time around I'm captivated by the newly-arrived collection.  Here I'll show you 3 of the new styles and the reasons I'm in love with them.

Last year, SOIA & KYO brought us an improved version of the popular leather jacket,  RYLEE; a classic favorite, fashionable yet timeless. This year, the leather jacket that makes us want to rock out is HEIDI. A short, collarless jacket with silver zippers, bringing out the rocker in all of us. The horizontal zipper is not only decorative, but allows you to take off the perlum hem, 2 jackets in one! As it is made of lambskin, a soft and supple leather, it can be worn both indoors and out. We love it!

The BRIHANA jacket has definite potential to become your all-time favorite. Made of a blend of polyester and viscose, it's extra-soft and stretchy. On top of that, it has large pockets to bury your hands in, or your keys and phone if you want to use it as an early autumn jacket.  And lastly, it's large lapel collar is as comfortable as it's charming. Perfect for a layered look!

The last, but not least, is the SAMIA, which much to the joy of everyone is back this season. SAMIA is a mid-length, double-faced, hand-made, wool coat. You'll feel like you're wrapped in a big blanket! Its impressive hood and large draped collar make it an essential coat for fall (or even spring!). A removable belt allows you to wear it 3 different ways, closed at the front, tied up at the back or open, without a belt. And we love the almond color.. just wow!

  • Nicole Benisti - Comfort and luxury

0 comments / Posted on by Dom Girard

It's not like there's a lack of choice for winter coats companies in Canada. There's so much to choose from that it becomes difficult to chose at all. Though, not all of them know how to stand out. Actually, I should say that not all of them are brave enough to dare. Why blend in when you can stand out from the crowd? This is how I would describe the new Nicole Benisti collection. In three words: comfort, personality and luxury. Tempting, right?

    Audacious styles

I never thought a boxy parka could be so glamorous. This is the case of Nicole Benisti's most popular style, the Chelsea, which made a more than welcome comeback this year. A mid-length parka, boldly designed with a huge fur collar. This combination has made it a huge success, both comfortable and elegant. This is also the essence of the entire collection; minimalist but original, offering a perfect transition between day and evening looks. What better way to prove how glamorous this style is than having it chosen by none other than Jennifer Lopez ... oh yes!

    Majestic fur collars

What gives these coats their luxurious look is obviously their imposing fur collars. Not only do they keep you warm, they accessorize the whole jacket. Nothing to add! The lazy part of me likes that idea ... That is why most of the time, the jacket itself contains very few details; the piece de resistance gloriously rests on your shoulders! And for that matter ... why not dare colored fur ?? Imagine yourself standing out of the white winter decor with a ruby red or navy blue fur? Wow!

All I have to add is: this winter… be bold!

  • A newbie hits our ranks

0 comments / Posted on by Dom Girard

At last the spring has come and, as we have done for the last 20 years, miX miX is once again bringing you all the brands of Quebec. Frank Lyman, Rudsak, Soia & Kyo just to name a few.
This year our guest invitee is Pink Martini Collections.
As a company who has always delighted in bringing you the fashions of Quebec we couldn't resist surprising you with this quality invitée … a brand that has already impressed in Montreal for a number years.
As always we are committed to bringing to you everything that's good about Quebec and will label these items as "Marque Invitée" in our 3 stores.
When we visited them in the Fall we fell in love with their simple sophisticated look and the rich feel of their fabrics. After the first fitting we were hooked and we knew intuitively that this range would work perfectly with our clientele: chic, carefree women who demand to look good in "less" … while walking their cats to chai latte cafes with sunny terrasses (Oh so Plateau).
The range includes dresses both long and short, uni-colour and funky. All perfect for a leisurely stroll through the city streets while basking in the summer sun.
